Curly
Whether you want your curly hair enhanced with your hair cut, or wether you want the curls straightened out, there are hairstyles for both needs. As you are probably aware if you choose a hair cut which will require straightening your hair every day, the maintenance factor is quite high and the style may not look good unless you do straighten your hair regularly.
Luckily there are hairstyles which can encourage or discourage curl in your hair. See our Hairstyle Maintenance page for more information.
Always be mindful of your face shape when choosing a hairstyle as not all hairstyles will suit your face shape.
See our Face Shapes page for tips on what would suit your particular face shape, whether it be oval, heart, round, square, or long.
Hairstyle ideas - For enhancing curls:
Keep hair very layered especially with rounded layers.
Avoid bluntness as this can weigh the hair down and make the curls look flat.
Layered bobs look great with curly hair as the layers encourage movement and curl.
With long hair keep shape around the face to help keep the curls springy, without weighing the face down.
Have the hair heavily chopped into to give the curls a shaggy, shattered look which keeps the look from appearing old fashioned.
Hairstyle ideas - To straighten out curls:
Keep layers long to ensure the weight pulls some of the curls out and flattens the whole hair down.
Keep fringes long for easy blow-drying and maintenance, as curly hair tends to spring up with the slightest bit of moisture or rain.
Keep ends and layers blunt as this can make for easier blow drying and straightening.
Avoid short hair cuts as you need the length longer in order for easier blow drying with a brush, and to enable you to run the comb through when straightening with irons.
