Face Shapes
Your face shape should be one of the main considerations when choosing your new haircut.
Firstly you need to decide what shape your face is.
You can do this a number of ways, you can either simply look at the outline of your face and if it is obvious, should match up with one of the face shapes shown below.
Another option is to sit in front of a mirror and draw the outline of your face on the mirror with a lipstick.
Match the shape up to one of the face shapes shown below.
Oval face shapes will suit most hairstyles as there are no definite angles to soften, and the oval shape is evenly balanced. The objective of the heart face shape is to disguise and add width to a small, sometimes pointy chin, and to reduce wide cheekbones. The objective of a round face shape is to add length to the face and reduce width in the cheeks. The objective of the square face shape is to soften a dominant jawline and create the illusion of roundness. The objective for the long face shape is to shorten the length of the face and add width to the cheek area.
